PARENT WORKSHOPS

Approach parenting, teaching, and co-teaching with calmness and confidence this fall.

Whatever method of schooling your family experiences this fall, uncertainties abound now—and changes are sure to come. But you can flourish, not flounder, in the midst of disruption.

These interactive online workshops are built on the core principle of releasing the pressure to achieve outcomes, and instead embracing faithfulness in the process. You will walk away with stronger grounding in your core principles and vision for your family, increased confidence in your strengths and calling, and agility to adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining stability.

Attention to the Interior Life

These workshops draw from Christian spiritual resources, speaking to the whole person (body, mind, heart, and soul). The emphasis is not on providing information, or explaining “nuts and bolts.” Instead, they offer a compassionate space in which to explore your own strengths, fears, and hopes.

Guided reflections provide opportunities to apply insights and principles to your specific family situation, in ways that work best for you.

Interactive, Engaging, Restful

Many of us have Zoom/screen fatigue; these workshops are designed to offset that as much as possible. They are highly interactive, and feature a variety of engagement styles: group discussion, paired discussion in breakout rooms, and guided personal reflection times.

"The metaphors Jesus used for the life of ministry are frequently images of the single, the small, and the quiet, which have effects far in excess of their appearance: salt, leaven, seed."
— Eugene Peterson

Current Workshops

Refreshed and Resourced:

A Free Introductory Workshop
for Parents.
(REGISTER BELOW)

This workshop will help you release the pressure to achieve specific outcomes beyond your control, and to activate the resources you already have. It provides space to identify your hopes for your child, to explore your strengths as a parent, and to find new perspective on your limitations.

With a length of one hour, Refreshed and Resourced fits easily into your schedule. It’s a complete experience that also offers an introduction to the themes and interactive style of Encounter’s workshops.

Refreshed and Resourced is an optional, but helpful, prelude to the themes and questions explored in Calm and Confident.

Calm and Confident:

A Workshop for Parents of School-Age Children.

Calm and Confident is a deeper exploration of the heart of parenting.

Though previous participation in Refreshed and Resourced is not required, this longer workshop complements its themes and questions.

(REGISTER BELOW)

The Calm and Confident workshop provides a compassionate space to explore the following themes:

  • RELEASING THE PRESSURE

Embrace faithfulness in process rather than achieving outcomes.

  • DEALING WITH COMPARISONS

Know your strengths, and rest confidently in pursuit of the best path for your child.

  • NAMING AND FACING FEARS AND ANXIETIES

Redirect focus toward your hopes and goals
    (avoid operating from subconscious fears).

  • PRACTICING COMPASSION

Receive grace for yourself, and offer it to your children, as we all navigate disruption and uncertainty.
